Detail in Princess Mary photo has royal fans talking
A stunning new photo of Princess Mary has been released to commemorate an important milestone in her official duties as a senior Danish royal, however, some of her fans have been distracted by what some are calling an ‘embarrassing’ detail in the background.
In the snap, Aussie-born Mary, 48, is seen sitting in her office in Amalienborg Palace, Copenhagen, having a Zoom meeting with fellow members of an independent commission into women’s reproductive rights.
The pic was shared to the official Danish royal’s Instagram page, @detdanskekongehus, on Thursday, prompting many of the 455k followers to jump into the comments and praise Mary’s work.
“Thank you so much for their strong and sustained commitment to women's and girls' rights and opportunities in both DK [Denmark] and the rest of the world! Women’s rights are indeed human rights!” one fan wrote.
While another simply wrote, “A worthy future queen.”

Others couldn’t help but notice that hanging on the wall of the office was a series of black and white photos of the four children the Princess shares with her husband, Crown Prince Frederik.
The gorgeous portraits show the junior royals giggling away in their birthday suits and appear to have been taken when Prince Christian, 14, Princess Isabella, 13, and nine-year-old twins Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine were much younger.
“I think that especially Christian thinks this post is a bit embarrassing,” pointed out one follower, who added, “But great respect for your work and efforts, it is SO important and significant.”
Some delighted in the candid family snaps, with one fan calling them ‘wonderful’.
“Love the pictures of their four beautiful children,” wrote another.
Others still were more concerned with the state of Mary’s large wooden desk, which was covered in books, papers and even a mini candelabra.
“There’s someone who needs to tidy up their desk a bit,” commented one follower.
“Love her desk - very vibrant and beautifully messy as a desk should be,” remarked another.
Earlier that same day Princess Mary joined Australian Ambassador to Denmark, Ellen Miller, to officially open the new Australian War Monument in Copenhagen to commemorate the Aussie soldiers who lost their lives in Denmark during WWI and II.
