Princess Kate shocks with hidden detail in outfit: 'Against protocol'

The Princess of Wales attended the Easter Mattins on Sunday with her family.

Royal fans have gone wild over a hidden detail in new snaps of Princess Kate. The royal, 41, attended an Easter Sunday service in Windsor with Prince William and their three children.

The Princess of Wales stunned in a recycled blue Catherine Walker coat with a matching hat, but it was what she was wearing on her hands that caused controversy. In her left hand, she held a matching blue clutch, showing off her sapphire engagement ring and a dark red manicure.

It has been thought that royal protocol dictated nail colours that working royals are allowed to wear, with Meghan Markle criticised by the press for wearing a dark shade before ‘Megxit’.

However, this may have just been a rule that the late Queen Elizabeth II had put in place, with Kate previously sticking to nude and pale pink shades.

It didn’t take long for social media to erupt over Kate’s potential mishap, with many pointing out that Meghan was torn apart when she wore dark nail polish to the 2018 British Fashion Awards show.

“Hey now. Isn’t it a rule that the royals are [not] supposed to wear dark nail polish? Or was it a rule the Queen had and now that she’s gone, it’s not frowned upon? Could be. Just wondering. But I seem to remember Meghan getting a lot of backlash for wearing dark nail polish,” one person tweeted.

“Whoa! Anyone else notice the RED nail polish on Princess Kate? I thought that was against protocol! Wasn’t Meghan given a hard time when she wore polish while an acting member of the family?” another asked.

“Seems like I remember Diana started wearing nail polish - including red - when she and Charles separated. Hmmm,” a third pointed out.

“Meghan was slaughtered for ‘breaking protocol’ just for wearing a nail polish that wasn’t pink. Now here is Kate Middleton wearing red nail polish,” another remarked.

However, a number of people said they adored Kate’s new manicure and said that it was never an official rule.

“It was stated as the Queen’s preference. There are going to be a lot of changes. That’s how it works in every family and business,” one declared.

“That was the protocol under QE II, they do change when a new monarch takes over, KC III will have different ideas and protocols in place. It’s that plain and simple,” a second added.

“I’m a big fan of the Princess of Wales’ red manicure today,” another chimed in.

“Kate looks lovely today and the red nail polish is a nice surprise!” a fourth exclaimed.
