Princess Beatrice's big announcement after royal scandals forced wedding delay
It looks like a date has finally been set for Princess Beatrice’s wedding to Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, after she was forced to delay it numerous times due to a string of royal scandals.
The 31-year-old granddaughter of the Queen got engaged in September last year to her boyfriend of 11 months while the couple holidayed in Italy.
However, just weeks later her father, Prince Andrew was embroiled in drama over his friendship with late paedophile Jeffrey Epstein and later, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle caused a ruckus in the royal family after announcing they were packing up and moving to Canada.
Now, it’s being reported that it can finally be revealed that the loved-up royals will marry at the beginning of June and will have their reception at Buckingham Palace.
The news comes after it was claimed that Beatrice was furious that she kept having to delay her plans over the drama in the House of Windsor.
“The decision has been delayed repeatedly because of all the issues, but finally they have something that seems to work - and barring any problems that should be when it goes ahead,” an insider told The Sun.
“The Queen has asked everyone to come together to put on a united front.
“The press officers of all the palaces hope to portray the Beatrice wedding as the big event that brings the family back together again.
“Aides know this will be a tough job, but it's all they can do not just to save the wedding, but potentially the monarchy's reputation.”
Who is Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi?
Edo, as he’s known to his friends, is a property developer. The 36-year-old works as the CEO of Banda Property.
He’s the son of Count Alessandro Mapelli Mozzi and Nikki Shale and has a two year-old son Christopher ‘Wolfie’ Woolf from his previous marriage with Chinese-American architect Dara Huang.
Beatrice and Edo made their first official public appearance at a National Portrait Gallery gala in March 2019, which the Duchess of Cambridge also attended.
The couple also joined Beatrice’s parents Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson at the Bahrain Grand Prix.
Beatrice had been single since splitting from her American boyfriend Dave Clark in 2016 after a decade together. Clark married Lynn Anderson, a New York advertising executive, in a lavish wedding ceremony in Puglia, Italy in July 2018.
