Prince Philip is the 'rudest human being ever', according to Piers Morgan
Days after his car crash near the Sandringham estate, Prince Philip has been labelled as the “rudest human being ever” by controversial TV personality, Piers Morgan.
Recalling an encounter he had with the Duke of Edinburgh over 20 years ago, Morgan branded the senior royal a “disagreeable character” in his column for the Mail Online.
“Prince Philip is the rudest human being I have ever met,” the Good Morning Britain presenter said, recounting the moment he met the 97-year-old at Prince Charles’ 50th birthday party.
While he noted that many people are often rude to him, his unpleasant meeting with Prince Philip tops it all.
“But Philip was quite breathtakingly off-hand, and it gave me a rare personal insight into what a disagreeable character the grand old Duke can be when he chooses,” Morgan wrote.
After the Queen’s husband “barked menacingly” asking who Morgan was, the then-editor of the Daily Mirror introduced himself as a member of the tabloid press, and he was joined by many of his fellow colleagues.
While Morgan noted that he understands Philip’s harbouring ill-feelings against those who are tabloid journalists, he didn’t understand how “he was prepared to be SO rude to someone who was an invited guest at his son’s birthday party”.
The Duke of Edinburgh has been in the headlines recently after his car crash last week.
On Thursday he was driving near the Sandringham estate when his Land Rover collided with another car carrying three passengers, including a nine-month-old baby.
While the Duke was uninjured, the driver of the Kia, a 28-year-old woman, suffered cuts to her knee while her passenger, Emma Fairweather, 46, sustained a broken wrist.
Norfolk Police also confirmed the nine-month-old baby boy in the car was uninjured.
Since the crash, Emma Fairweather has spoken out about Philip on TV, claiming he hasn’t reached out and apologised to her.
