Prince Harry's behaviour when he was young 'upset' Prince Charles

Prince Harry has always had a bit of a cheeky side to him, but his “bad boy” antics when he was younger reportedly “upset” his father, Prince Charles.

After losing his mother, Princess Diana, when he was just 12-years-old, a young Harry started school at Eton College in Windsor when he was 13.

The teenage boy often found himself in trouble which “worried” Charles, according to royal author Katie Nicholl as per The Express.

“Charles was understandably upset and worried by the decline in Harry’s behaviour and his poor academic performance at school,” she wrote in her 2017 book, Harry: Life, Loss and Love.

Nicholl went on to explain while William had a great time at school, it “was not as easy a ride for Harry”.

The young royal even once said, “I didn’t enjoy school. I wanted to be the bad boy.”

Whilst William succeeded academically at Eton and was “hugely popular”, Nicholl claimed Harry “found the academic work a struggle”.

However, Harry’s difficulties extended beyond the classroom.

In 2001, when he was 16, Harry was caught smoking marijuana at Prince Charles’ country home, Highgrove House, and underage drinking at a nearby local pub.

To nip everything in the bud, the Prince of Wales decided to teach Harry a lesson the hard way.

“Charles decided to take a hard-hitting approach, sending Harry to a rehabilitation centre in Featherstone Lodge, South London, where he was made to sit in on therapy sessions for hard-core heroin addicts,” Nicholl claimed.

Despite his struggles during his teen years, Harry went on to have a successful career in the British Army and was even deployed to Afghanistan in 2007 and in 2012.
