Prince Charles' Australian mistress you didn't know about

The whole world knows about Camilla Parker-Bowles, former mistress and now wife of Prince Charles and a major factor in bringing down his marriage to Princess Diana.

But there was another woman in the mix that many are not aware of and just like Diana, 2017 marked the 20th anniversary of her death.

Prince Charles even once described her as "the only woman who ever understood [him]".

Dale Harper was born in Melbourne, Australia but eventually relocated to London in 1972 and within two weeks she met Anthony Tryon, 3rd Baron Tryon.

This is how the socialite met Prince Charles, as Anthony was a part of his inner circle.

In 1973 Dale became Baroness Tryon when she married Anthony, but to Charles - and eventually the world - she was known as Kanga.

According to a 2008 documentary by the UK's Channel 4, Prince Charles' Other Mistress, the prince was instantly captivated by Kanga and once she entered his inner circle is was the "first time Camilla has a serious rival."

Throughout the 1970s there was a tug of war for Prince Charles' heart between Camilla and Kanga, despite both of them being married.

The women both gave birth to their respective children during that time and, according to the documentary, when one was pregnant the other would be the keeper to Charles' heart.

In 1976 Charles attended the christening of Kanga's son, Charles Tryon, in 1976 and was named his godfather.

Camilla also made Charles the godfather of her son, Tom Parker-Bowles.

However, in 1981 Charles announced his engagement to Lady Diana Spencer, but as we know it did not turn out to be the fairytale the world hoped it would be.

Due to Kanga's lack of discretion when it came to the royal family, eventually she was ousted out of Charles' life.

She eventually launched her own fashion line, she named after the nickname Charles gave her, Kanga, as Camilla came back into Charles' life and his marriage with Diana was going down the drain.

Diana and Kanga eventually joined forces and the princess sent a clear message to Camilla in 1985 when she wore one of Kanga's clothing designs.

In 1987, the British tabloids published claims Kanga and Charles had an affair, which is something, the doco claims, the Tryon family has continually denied.

Princess Diana and Prince Charles formally separated in 1992, eventually divorcing in 1996, making way for Camilla to come back into the picture but Kanga was totally pushed out of his inner circle.

Kanga's husband, Anthony, eventually filed for divorce in 1997 and the husband and wife of 24 years parted ways in June of that year.

Two months later, Diana, just 36, passed away in after a tragic car accident in Paris.

And just three months later, Kanga died in London at age 49 after contracting septicaemia.
