Platinum Jubilee: Royal fans praise Harry and Meghan's return

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have finally reunited with the royal family in public for the first time since ‘Megxit’ in March 2020, when the couple gave up their ‘Royal Highness’ titles.

At the Trooping the Colour ceremony on Thursday, the pair were spotted watching the festivities from a smaller balcony where they were joined by Zara Tindall, Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie and some younger royals.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were not seen with the Queen as the monarch decided only herself and senior working royals would be permitted to appear on Buckingham Palace’s main balcony.

Meghan found dealing with the UK tabloids difficult, which eventually led to the couple moving to the USA. Royal fans were delighted to see the pair with the royal family again, with many people gushing over them on social media.

“Meghan Markle is one of the strongest women on the planet and I am so proud of her and Harry,” one wrote.

“Funny that for six years the UK press has insisted Harry and Meghan wouldn’t be happy unless they were front row and centre…we saw some of the most relaxed and happy behaviour today from both,” another added.

Photos of the couple show a playful and lighthearted side, looking animated as they charmed the young royals which fans adored.

“You just know the kids think Harry and Meghan are the coolest aunty and uncle. I had one of those too as a kid!” one observed.

“Love seeing Harry and Meghan looking fashionable, unbothered, regal and happy to be with family,” another chimed in.

Footage from the couple’s arrival was shared on social media, showing that the pair were greeted with applause and cheers.

Queen set to meet Lilibet

While we haven’t caught a glimpse of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's children yet, it is believed that Archie and Lilibet have travelled to the UK with their parents.

Lilibet is set to meet the Queen, who she’s named after, on her first birthday this weekend. Her parents will likely take both children to Windsor Castle on Saturday, when Lilibet turns one.

The Queen has also not seen Archie since the family moved to the US.

Their public reunion with the Queen was meant to take place this Friday at the Service of Thanksgiving, but due to her ongoing mobility issues the monarch will no longer be attending.

The Sussexes are believed to be staying at Frogmore Cottage during their stay as Princess Eugenie, her husband Jack Brooksbank and their daughter Sienna are believed to not be living there at the moment.
