Piglins and Creepers run amok as Jack Black makes dreams comes true in our first look at “A Minecraft Movie”
The wait is almost over: Steve is coming to the big screen in 2025.
What happens when reality collides with the creatively cubic Overworld? A Minecraft Movie.
After years of chatter about Minecraft coming to the big screen, our first look at the film has finally arrived, featuring creepers, llamas, zombie piglins, and Jack Black in the all-too important role of Steve. The actor, who recently played a crucial role in bringing another video game franchise to the big screen, will be joined on this blocky adventure by Jason Momoa, Danielle Brooks, Jennifer Coolidge, Wednesday star Emma Myers, and Sebastian Eugene Hansen.
Together, they’ll do as Minecraft players have since 2011: build, run, and hopefully survive the night.

Hailing from Napoleon Dynamite and Nacho Libre filmmaker Jared Hess, A Minecraft Movie follows four misfits — Garrett “The Garbage Man” Garrison (Momoa), Henry (Hansen), Natalie (Myers) and Dawn (Brooks) — as they are transported into the Overworld, a wonderland that thrives on imagination. To get back home, the gang of lovable losers must get creative, master the world, protect it from all things evil, and embark on a magical quest. Along the way, they’ll have the assistance of a certain pickaxe-wielding expert crafter.
“Anything you can dream about here, you can make,” Black promises the crew in the trailer, before unceremoniously introducing himself as “...Steve.”
"This guy is such a toolbag," Myers as Natalie immediately declares. But while the gang seems unimpressed by Steve’s less than epic introduction, the dangers of the Overworld may just provide some necessary perspective.

Set to the tune of The Beatles’ “Magical Mystery Tour,” the teaser shows off the trademark monsters and villains of the world, including mobs of armed piglins and ominously howling wolves.
