Pet Rescue Comedy In Works At CBS From ‘Frasier’ Co-EP Lauren Houseman & The Lonely Island
EXCLUSIVE: CBS is developing a workplace comedy series from writer Lauren Houseman (Frasier, Space Force) and CBS Studios.
Sheltered is a single-cam series that tells the story of the misfit volunteers at an overworked and underfunded pet rescue who often feel as complicated, lonely, and ‘unlovable’ as the difficult dogs and cats in their care.

Executive producing alongside Houseman are The Lonely Island’s Andy Samberg, Jorma Taccone and Akiva Schaffer as well as Ali Bell of the company’s banner Party Over Here.
CBS doesn’t have a signature single-camera workplace comedy at the moment, something ABC has with Abbott Elementary, NBC with newcomer St. Denis Medical and Fox with Animal Control.
Houseman has previously collaborated with Greg Daniels, as a producer across both seasons of his Netflix series Space Force, and as a producer and writer on Daniels’ Prime Video series Upload.
Her writing credits also include the YouTube Red series Wayne and all four seasons of Survivor’s Remorse for Starz, for which she received a Women’s Image Award. She most recently forged a relationship with CBS Studios after serving as a co-ep on the Paramount+ reboot of Frasier.
Houseman is repped by UTA.
