"This Couple Aired Their Entire Divorce On Facebook": People Are Sharing The Wildest Divorce Gossip And, Unfortunately, I'm Hooked

I recently asked the BuzzFeed Community to tell me the most "tea-worthy" divorce stories they have heard. Here are some of the shared stories:

1."I sat in on a contested divorce trial where the husband found his wife getting Eiffel Towered by two strangers she met at a bar. Then he had to explain to the court what 'Eiffel towering' is."

2."This couple I went to high school with basically aired their entire divorce on Facebook. They went back and forth for a whole day, and I knew all of their friends, myself included, just sat back and watched. There was a lot of finger-pointing and name-calling. I felt awful, and eventually, they both disappeared from social media. Breakups are rarely ever pretty, but YIKES."

3."One of my aunts took it as a sign when her third husband drunkenly fell off their roof."

"She thoroughly believes he was pushed off by the ghost of her mother, and that was the final straw for her in a pretty contentious marriage."

4."The husband moved out in December, right before the holidays, and immediately disconnected the utilities from the apartment the wife and daughter still lived in. It was freezing, they couldn’t cook, and the utility companies couldn’t come out to reconnect service until January."

"Four months after this, he posted on social media as a dating/relationship/divorce coach charging $175/hr. This man is a trained chef with zero therapeutic schooling. He even stopped paying child support months ago despite only having the daughter for about six days a month. Watch out for whose advice you follow on social media!"

5."Friends S and L are divorcing because while S works full-time and has two part-time jobs, champions her son with CHD, raises her two kids, his two kids, and a friend's two kids (six total), and helps run L's businesses, all he does is smoke cigars and shoot the sh*t with his buddies. A rumor was started that she was sleeping with one of our friends (the father of the last two kids), but she wasn't. However, she met a new guy and started seeing him before telling L she wanted a divorce. They're barely separated, and she's publicly dating this new guy. Although it's a sh*tty situation, I feel for her because she's been an absolute superwoman while he's done not much of anything except disrespect her and treat her like a piece of meat while not caring about her needs."

6."They divorced because the husband cheated with their neighbor. During divorce proceedings, the wife went over to the neighbor's house to talk things out to remain civil as neighbors and for their kids, and ended up getting drunk and sleeping with her as well."

7."When my uncle divorced his first wife, my whole family was unhappy because we all loved her. He met his second wife AT A FAMILY REUNION! She was related to us but not close enough for it to be illegal. I think she was his second cousin once removed. They didn't last more than a few years, but had a kid. His third wife barely spoke English; he refused to learn any of her language; they got married on his mother's birthday without telling anyone, all because someone in her family told him she was his heavenly soulmate or something. They've been on and off for over a decade but, shockingly, are still married. She speaks more English now, so that probably helps."

8."She moved into an apartment with a roommate and their kids. He would go over for custody swaps and would make a chitchat with the roommate because she wouldn’t talk to him without a lawyer present. He ended up sleeping with the roommate and knocked her up before the divorce was final. The original couple successfully divorced, and he is now engaged to the roommate, who has another baby on the way."

9."My sister divorced her husband three years ago. She was cheating on him with his friend of 30+ years. Then, she cheated on that guy with his friend of 15+ years. She broke up another marriage in the process. We don't speak."

10."After the divorce between a sibling and their significant other, I was told the significant other pawned their wedding ring before the divorce even proceeded. They were even trying to work things out for a couple of weeks, and when they realized what had happened, that was the final straw for my sibling."

11."My cousin was married to the 'sweetest' man. When she decided to divorce him, the family was stunned. She told us stories about how she would wake up to find him sitting in a corner of the room, watching her sleep. He would follow her to her job, break into her car, steal anything of value, and plant incriminating evidence of her 'cheating' (which was not happening). He threatened to kill her on several occasions. It wasn’t until she was on the phone with her kids (and other family members since it happened multiple times) that we found out the crazy stuff he would tell her and all the threats of violence. Her kids would not let her be alone after that."

"Since he refrained from acting out in front of people, he sort of left her alone. When he found out that the kids knew, he stopped refraining himself and went full force. He tried to push her down the stairs, messed with her car, and even tried to run her off the road. Everyone finally convinced her to get a restraining order."

12."My friend was married and divorced within six months. They had been together for about three years before marrying. The reason? She thought he was gay, so she cheated on him. He’s not gay…"

13."I babysat for this family a few times, and one morning, I looked at my phone to find many messages. These texts ranged from questions and attempted answers to insults and, finally, death threats followed by an apology. The husband discovered the wife was cheating and sent me the texts intended for her lover. Another round of texts intended for someone else from the husband indicated the wife was a lying, cheating bitch, and he was filing paperwork for divorce. I'm not sure what happened because I never heard from them again. After I politely explained, he texted the wrong person both times."

14."Basically, my friend’s little sister was married to this older guy for a few years who kept his entire identity a secret from her. Turns out, he had been using a fake name the whole time because he illegally immigrated from the UK without a visa and was terrified of getting deported. He went to crazy lengths to hide everything, even from her, and the big reveal came when she found out he actually had a wife and two kids back in the UK, and he’d never even divorced them! But that wasn’t even the craziest part: their marriage in the U.S. was basically void because he never actually went to the courthouse to get an official marriage license."

"He’d kept that secret the entire time, and she never knew because she was already dealing with some personal stuff, including struggling with addiction. When she finally found out, it shattered her. However, in an unexpected twist, that was the wake-up call she needed. She checked herself into rehab and got the help she needed. Now she’s happily married to her husband of 5 years, and she has a beautiful daughter. As for the ex, he got deported once everything came out, and I have no idea what happened to him. Guess we’ll never know."

15."My dad is a vapid narcissist and probably thought my mom wouldn’t protect herself during their divorce, so she and her lawyer drafted a divorce decree that stated my dad would pay child support until my brother and I graduated college. It also said that his survivor benefits from being in the military would go straight to my mom in the event of his passing. And only she could remove herself as the beneficiary. That fool didn’t read the decree before he signed it, so my mom got everything she wanted, and he still hates her to this day. GO MOM!!!"

16."A family friend got married in 2006 in a huge Indian wedding. It was a love match, and his parents spent $150,000, complete with a full week of partying, a Hummer limo, and his arrival on a white horse at the wedding. After they married, they had their daughter, and he started traveling for his job and building his fortune. He met a pretty blonde woman there, divorced his wife, remarried in 2018, and had three more kids. His ex-wife has a boyfriend but refuses to marry him because she gets eight grand every month in alimony and child support."

17."A family friend was married to his wife for about three months. She was probably the most vapid person I have ever met, a blank slate, who truly believed that the two of them would be Instagram famous because they were beautiful people. She held no personal opinions, could not tell you what she liked, and had no preferences regarding food, music, or anything else. After the wedding, she quit her job to be an influencer full-time, insisting that any day now, the followers and sponsors were going to start rolling in. They couldn't stay where they were on one income and ended up moving in with his parents for a while, and he got frustrated that she was not only not contributing but spending a lot to do her Instagram stuff."

"There's nothing wrong with living at home with parents, especially with the amount some places charge for rent. But she never tried to make money to pay bills or even her expenses. Her posts sometimes ask people to give her the things she wants. She insists that her account with less than 100 followers will take off any day now and that she'll get modeling contracts, etc. So he left. Shortly after, he got a really good promotion and moved away. He's thriving. She's still trying to find her perfect Instagram partner who will let her be an influencer without getting a job and keeps couch surfing."

18."I was dating a boy as a teenager whose father was the Cub Master of the local Cub Scout Pack. He had an affair with a Den leader whose husband then had an affair with another den leader. It all ended explosively, with three divorces and seven children involved. Every time I think about it, I wonder what the f*** happened at Cub Scout camp that year."

19.And finally, "My friend found out after her divorce about her ex-husband's other family. He had a fiancé and four kids on the West Coast. She lived on the East Coast with four kids also. He told her that he had to work on the weekends and travel for his job, and then he told the other woman on the West Coast that he could only be there on the weekends because of his job. So basically, he had two lies on two different Coasts. He might have gotten away with it if he hadn't tried to get a marriage license during the divorce proceedings. The divorce was not final, and he was trying to get a marriage license. That's when she found out."
