'Peaky Blinders' May Not Be Over Yet, According to the Show's Creator

Heads up Peaky Blinders fans — we just got some info about the future of the franchise that'll definitely be something to pay attention to.
The hit TV show originally ended after six seasons in 2022, and two years later, folks learned a movie follow-up was officially in the works. Bringing back Cillian Murphy as Tommy Shelby (along with other famous folks from the series), the story of the Peaky Blinders gang continuing has fans hoping there may be more stories to tell in the future. Well, it looks like we may have gotten an answer to this burning question — and it comes from none other than the Peaky Blinders creator himself, Steven Knight.
Steven appeared on the BBC Breakfast Show on February 18, where he talked about the current status of the Peaky Blinders movie. While confirming that filming wrapped in December 2024 and it's currently in the post-production stage, Steven surprised listeners by revealing the movie may not be the last of the Peaky Blinders franchise. As he put it to radio presenters Jon Kay and Sarah Campbell, there's good authority that there's more to see from this ragtag group.
"The stuff that I’m watching – the rushes, the assemblies – no one will be disappointed. It is quite an incredible thing," he said, per Variety. "I’m not allowed to announce it, but I’m just saying that the world of 'Peaky' will continue."
Well, this is quite a surprise that fans likely didn't expect! While it's unclear exactly how the Peaky Blinders world could expand, folks do know that new characters are expected to be introduced in the new film. What's more, Netflix is already teasing Barry Keoghan's association with the franchise, though his character's identity is currently being kept under wraps.
Regardless, Steven shared that folks will be excited to see what's to come... even if it may take a while to see how Tommy Shelby and co. are faring in the Peaky Blinders movie.
"We’re putting [the movie] together now," he added. "I would say this, wouldn’t I? But it’s fantastic. We’ve got the best, I think, the best British actors all in one place... It’s a very fitting way to end this part of the 'Peaky' story."
