Paul McCartney becomes first billionaire musician in the UK

At 81 years old, Sir Paul McCartney is still cashing in — and making history, too.

The legendary Beatles member has become the first billionaire musician in the United Kingdom, according to the 2024 Sunday Times Rich List.

Following the success of his 2023 Got Back Tour (for which he earned a reported $52.4 million) and the increased value of his music catalog — recently bolstered by Beyoncé’s groundbreaking cover of 1968’s “Blackbird” — McCartney is swimming in riches.

Last year, two Beatles compilation albums — “The Red Album” and “The Blue Album” — were also rereleased featuring 21 additional tracks.

2023 also saw the release of the final Beatles track, the AI-powered “Now and Then,” which became the group’s first song to top the Billboard airplay chart.

McCartney, who currently has a photo exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum, last made the top spot of the annual Sunday Times Rich List when his wealth topped £865 million in 2022.

Other notable names that made the wealth-tracking tally of the 350 richest include Elton John ($595 million), David and Victoria Beckham ($575 million), J.K. Rowling ($1.2 billion) and Salma Hayek, whose husband is luxury fashion businessman François-Henri Pinault (over $8 billion).
