The long-time couple and parents of three met in 2012 when they were teenagers at Whitehouse High School in Texas. After a decade of dating and welcoming their first child, Sterling Skye Mahomes, in 2021, Patrick and Brittany married in 2022 during a private ceremony in Hawaii.
They welcomed their son, Patrick "Bronze" Lavon Mahomes III, that same year, and had their daughter Golden Raye Mahomes in 2025.
Balancing a professional football career as quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs and a growing family is no simple feat, but Brittany told PEOPLE in 2023 that she thinks Patrick is doing an "amazing" job at it. "I think he's really switched around his priorities and figured it out," the former professional soccer player said. "He's the best father ever."

Patrick was just as quick to express his appreciation for Brittany, adding that she is a "great wife" who helps him out "a ton."

They started dating in high school

Patrick Mahomes and Brittany MahomesPatrick and Brittany attended the same high school in the small town of Whitehouse, Texas. He was a sophomore and she was a junior when they first started dating in 2012.
During GQ’s "Couple Quiz" in 2023, Brittany said Patrick was interested in her first, but she kept him “in the friend zone for a very long time.”
When they attended prom together in 2013, the future Chiefs quarterback shared a collage of photos on Instagram with the caption, “Best prom date a guy could ask for!!”
Patrick and Brittany were in a long-distance relationship in college

Brittany Mahomes and Patrick MahomesAfter high school, Brittany and Patrick attended different colleges. She went to the University of Texas at Tyler to play soccer, and he opted for Texas Tech University, over six hours away in Lubbock.
The distance between them grew even further in 2017 when Brittany signed with a professional women’s soccer team in Iceland. That same year, the Chiefs selected Patrick in the NFL draft.
Despite being physically apart, the couple remained together until she returned to the U.S. later that year.
Patrick proposed the same year he won his first Super Bowl
The quarterback earned his first Super Bowl ring in February 2020 when the Chiefs beat the San Francisco 49ers. Patrick was later crowned MVP of the game and was photographed holding Brittany on the field as they celebrated his big win together.
After his Super Bowl ring ceremony in September 2020, Patrick pulled out another ring — a stunning diamond engagement ring — and asked Brittany to marry him in a suite overlooking the Chiefs’ stadium.
They married in 2022

Brittany Mahomes and Patrick MahomesOn March 12, 2022, Brittany and Patrick married in Maui, Hawaii in a private ceremony overlooking the ocean. Their daughter Sterling, born the previous year, was their flower girl and rode down the aisle in a tiny blue car.
"Having your daughter apart of your wedding, just hits different🥺💕," Brittany later captioned a series of photos from their big day on Instagram. “I love you sister girl💖."

The couple then expanded their family again with the addition of their youngest child, daughter Golden, on Jan. 12, 2025.
The kiddos frequently accompany their mom to Chief’s football games — and Sterling especially loves to watch her dad on the field.
"It's very special to have them there, to support their dad,” the Sports Illustrated model told PEOPLE in 2024. "My oldest daughter, she can finally kind of realize what's going on and where she's at, and she loves to watch her dad play football. She can see him from a mile away and pays attention and keeps up with what's going on with him."
They co-own a professional women’s soccer team
In 2020, Brittany was named part-owner of the KC Current, a National Women’s Soccer League expansion team. The former pro soccer player was joined three years later by Patrick who gave his wife props in a 2023 post on X for building “a world-class organization.”
"We are so thrilled to make this a family affair and have Patrick join as an owner," Brittany said in a team statement at the time. "He has been a huge supporter behind-the-scenes. His passion for the Current is undeniable and I am glad that he will be with us as we continue on our journey to become the best in the NWSL."
Brittany said Patrick taught her how to "stop caring what people think"

In a 2024 interview on the WHOOP podcast, the mom of three revealed the piece of advice her husband gave her when it came to dealing with backlash on social media.
“I think the main thing that he always told me is stop caring about what people think, especially the people that don't even know you," Brittany said. “And I think he's helped me get to that point to where I'm strong in who I am. I'm confident in who I am, I'm confident in mine and his relationship, and I'm confident in our life.”
Patrick said Brittany is more competitive than him

Brittany Mahomes and Patrick MahomesDespite his status as one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL, Patrick told reporters, including PEOPLE, in February 2025 that his wife — who was the first athlete at the University of Texas at Tyler to score three hat-tricks — is actually the “competitor in the family.”
“She’s more competitive than I am,” Patrick said. “And so when I’m calm and I’m trying to figure out what I’m going to do and try to make sure my mind’s right she’s always telling me that she’s ready to compete as much as I am.”
