Patrick Dempsey Shares Rare Throwback Photo with Daughter Talula as He Celebrates Her 23rd Birthday: 'Beautiful Inside and Out'

Patrick Dempsey is celebrating his oldest on her special day.

On Thursday, Feb. 20, the Grey's Anatomy alum, 59, shared a sweet throwback photo on his Instagram as he celebrated his daughter Talula's 23rd birthday. In the picture, Dempsey can be seen wearing a plaid cap and a dark sweater, cuddling his daughter, who sat in his lap.

Talula wore an icy blue zip-up sweater and smiled as she pressed her face against her dad's. "Happy birthday Talula !!! 23 ! So proud of you you're an amazing human being, kind compassionate and funny and absolutely beautiful inside and out. 🎈🎊," Dempsey sweetly wrote in his caption.

Dempsey shares three kids with longtime wife Jillian Dempsey — daughter Talula and twin sons Darby and Sullivan, 18.

In December 2023, Dempsey attended the premiere of his film Ferrari  in Los Angeles, walking the red carpet at the Directors Guild of America Complex alongside wife Jillian and their three kids.

Dempsey looked dapper in a black suit over a pinstripe shirt as he posed next to his wife, who dazzled in a gold column gown.

Talula opted for a black spaghetti-strap dress featuring a deep V neckline, while Sullivan rocked a black leather jacket and Darby went for an all-black suit look, without the tie.

The actor, who was crowned as PEOPLE's Sexiest Man Alive in 2023, opened up about parenting in his cover interview, revealing that his kids "want to have their own identity, separate from me and that shadow."

"They all have unique qualities and they have their own goals that they need to develop and harvest themselves and we just try to model our behavior and hopefully they’ll pick up on that," Dempsey said.

The proud dad also noted that it's "very challenging having your children grow up in Hollywood and to be in that environment."

"I just read something about how important it is when you have children, the environment that they’re in will be the most important thing for them and their development," the Thanksgiving actor shared. "So trying to keep that a good calm loving safe environment for them."
