When it comes to preparing for awards shows, most stars spend the entire day primping with the help of robust glam teams and professional stylists. But for the 2025 Golden Globes, Pamela Anderson took a much more laid-back approach, choosing to do her own hair (she cut her own fringe for the night), minimalist make-up and styling herself, in what she tells Bazaar is the “quickest getting-ready you’ll ever see”.

“I think you need to go on a red carpet with a smile and you are good,” she added. “That’s all you need.”

Though Anderson is certainly no stranger to the red carpet, this year marked the first time she was nominated for a Golden Globe, for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture in Gia Coppola's The Last Showgirl. The project punctuates a glittering comeback for Anderson, cementing her reputation as a serious performer. “It feels good to be seen for my hard work because that is the best part of me,” she shares.

In the film, Anderson portrays Shelly, a Las Vegas performer in love with the spotlight, whose show abruptly closes after a 30-year run. As Shelly faces the end of a career she's sacrificed her personal life for, one defined by her youth, sexuality and beauty, she begins to evaluate what it all meant — and where she could go next.

“My entire life, all its ups and downs, coloured my work in The Last Showgirl,” says Anderson, who, as someone once defined by her blonde bombshell sex appeal, knows what it’s like to be judged and valued on her appearance and youth. “It gave me a lot to draw from — it informed Shelly’s character but she truly was a departure [from me]. She was a delve into the essence of another being. It’s scary and rewarding to allow that kind of transformation.”

Over the past year or so, Anderson has famously chosen mostly to forgo make-up, citing her desire to challenge beauty norms for women, embrace her own imperfections, and show people that true beauty comes from within. “I feel best these days without make-up but that doesn’t mean I don’t love being sophisticated, elegant, and glamorous,” she says.

To achieve a radiant glow for the Globes, Anderson looked to Sonsie Skin, the clean, cruelty-free, and vegan skincare brand she co-founded in 2023 — specifically its Ultimate Hydration product duo, which includes the brand’s intensely hydrating Multi Moisture Mask and Super Serum. But, Anderson reminds us, her glow can be attributed to a more holistic approach to beauty and wellness. “I take good care of my skin, [pay attention to] the food I eat, and spend a great deal of time in nature, journaling and smiling till my eyes close,” she says.

When it came to choosing her Globes dress, Anderson was inspired by Old Hollywood glamour, citing Sophia Lauren’s red-carpet looks, Italian cinema, and Jean Singer Sargent’s painting Portrait of Madame X as inspirations. “[The night was] an opportunity to shine, sparkle, and celebrate this incredible industry,” says Anderson.

She ultimately landed on a black Oscar de la Renta gown, which featured a square neck, wide straps, and ruching at the bust. It was finished off with a pair of coordinating opera gloves — a popular accessory on the red carpet that night.

“I always love working with Fernando [Garcia] at Oscar de la Renta; he sends me fabrics and drawings and we talk about what my needs are,” says Anderson. “I wanted to do classic, and I wanted to do comfortable; I didn’t want to be trapped in an uncomfortable dress.” Of the gown she chose, she says, “I loved the neckline and it reminds me of some actresses I’ve seen in the past who I admire.”

Just like her gown, Anderson’s jewellery was chosen to project a sense of timeless sophistication. As a Global Brand Ambassador for Pandora, she wore a diamond bracelet, necklace, and earrings by the Danish jeweller. “My favourite jewellery piece is definitely the necklace, it has that kind of Old Hollywood silhouette,” she shares. “And it feels good too because the diamonds are lab grown and sustainable.”

If her performance in The Last Showgirl is any indication of what’s to come, we should all prepare to see a lot more of Anderson on our screens in the future. “I hope to work with directors that will challenge me and who see something in me I haven’t found yet,” she says. “We all want to know what we’re made of and that takes risk; I’ve never been more ready.”
