Oscars 2020: Kristin Wiig's 'vagina' dress turns heads

Hollywood’s A-listers have donned their glad rags for cinema’s night of nights, the Academy Awards, and while many stars have hit a fashion high note some have clearly missed the mark.

Actor and comedian Kristen Wiig has arguably landed in the latter category with her head-turning red carpet look by luxury designer Valentino.

Plucked straight from the brand’s spring/summer 2020 haute couture runway show, Kristen’s tomato red frock featured a high neckline and mesh panelling that allowed a glimpse of skin underneath a cape-like panel at the back.

The Ghostbusters star completed her eye-catching ensemble with black shiny elbow-length gloves, understated gold heels and sleek blonde hair.

But the most dramatic - and divisive - part of the outfit was undoubtedly the oversized ruffles running down either side of the near-floor length skirt.

Fans, or critics, rather, took to Twitter to share their opinions on the Saturday Night Live regular’s Oscars 2020 wardrobe choice, with users comparing her to everything from lasagne, a ‘mutant lobster’ and a vagina.
