Once Terrified Rescue Dog Blooms with Confidence in Stunning Transformation

Having the ability to adopt a rescue dog is such a gift — both for you, as their new forever human, and for the dog who has now finally found a safe and loving home. It can be so hard for pups who end up in shelters to find their families, especially if they don't happen to be puppies, who are adopted much more quickly. It's not always an easy road to walk, either; after all, these dogs ended up homeless somehow, and many of them bring with them trauma that they will need to work through with the help of their new humans.

But there are few things more rewarding than seeing the transformation that can take place when a rescue dog finds exactly the people they were meant to spend their life with, and this video is a beautiful example of that.

In celebration of her rescue dog's birthday, @mykomushroom recently shared this sweet video on Instagram to show just how much her pup has changed since she adopted him.

As we can see in the video, at first, Myko was very anxious — this poor boy was visibly shaking In these first few clips and seemed so hesitant to accept the love and safety he was being offered.

But slowly, he began to change as he started trusting his new humans and his new environment, and started becoming confident enough to enjoy his life and all the love that came with it. Look at that happy dog he became by the end of the video!

"His bravery and gentle spirit, in spite of a hard past I’ll never know, inspires me every day," his mom wrote in her caption. "I am forever amazed by how far he has come."

More About Myko the Rescue Dog

Myko is kind of a big deal — and not just because he's so cute (though that adorable face certainly doesn't hurt).

Not only does this sweet dog have over 218,000 Instagram followers, which is a rather impressive accomplishment in itself, but he also went viral last year for the panic room his parents built him under their stairs to help with his anxiety over loud noises, including thunder storms.

"I was looking for a creative way to help him feel safer in our home that wouldn't require medication and realized that we had a closet under the steps we didn't really use except for storage," his human told Newsweek in July 2023, adding that they call it the "Boomie Roomie."

It's no wonder that Myko has changed so much since he was adopted — his parents have really gone the extra mile to make sure he feels safe and comfortable. He's a lucky dog!
