Olympic-Obsessed Golden Retriever Can't Take His Eyes Off the TV and It's Precious

It's no surprise that for the past few weeks, we have all been absolutely glued to our TVs, anxiously watching the Paris Olympic Games to see if the U.S. can win as many gold medals as possible. But even some dogs are getting in on the sideline action!

Watch below as this adorable Golden Retriever shows off his love for his top sport. Can you guess which one it is? It might be one of your top watches, too!

Instagram creator @max.and.finn shares her dog mom life with her three Golden Retrievers, Finn, Murphy, and Blitz. These three pups get into a ton of adorable adventures in their home in Tampa, Florida, but most recently, Finn has started a new hobby that his owner can't get enough of. And neither can we!

Not every dog pays attention to the TV, much less the specific content that's on it, but Finn is a special breed. Apparently, since the start of the games, this golden boy has been obsessed with watching swimming over and over again!

He will stand directly underneath the TV watching the athletes above him, totally zoned in on the competitions. I mean, considering Golden Retrievers were bred to retrieve birds in the water, we can't be too surprised that he loves a water sport.

Is My Dog Actually Watching TV?

Believe it or not, dogs can actually watch television, and many of them enjoy the activity! Despite their duller eyesight, dogs can be visually attracted to the content playing on a television screen. While we have three types of color-processing retinas in our eyes, dogs only have two, meaning they can really only see blues, greens, and yellows. However, this lack of color doesn't stop them from enjoying heavy motion on a screen.

As you might have experienced from your own pup, dogs can react to sounds on a TV, or even specific visuals if they recognize them, like squirrels or other dogs.

Some pups, like Finn, even prefer specific shows or content to others!

According to a study earlier this year by Applied Animal Behavior Science, dogs are most engaged when other animals are on the screen. Many pet parents opt to put on videos of creatures for their pups, especially if the videos are heavy with shades of blue and green. Shows like Scooby-Doo, Paw Patrol, and Blue's Clues are top contenders for Favorite Dog TV Shows.

Who knew?

The next time you leave the house, you might want to throw on some colorful animated show for your pup's enjoyment.
