While there's no such thing as a 'bad pizza' per say, it is after all just dough, cheese and tomato (don't come for me Italians), life is too short to eat average pies and so we've made it our mission to find the very best slices in the city. Whether you need a quick lunchtime meal, or your hangover is calling for a cheesy crust, or you need a nice restaurant for midweek catchups, there's always a pizza spot to head to. And we've taken the hard work out for you of deciding which of the many pizza places to head to in London and found our top 10 favourites.

So without further ado, these are the best pizzas in London (and don't forget to dip your crusts in all the hot honey!).

Takeaway available?: No

We order: The Wicker Man or The White Goat

"If you’re looking for delicious pizza on your doorstep, you might just be in luck with Sodo Pizza, which boasts locations in every corner of London.

"As we all know, sourdough is still king in the pizza biz, and at Sodo they take it particularly seriously (peep the name?). Their grains are grown in Buckinghamshire — by a farmer called John! — and their dough is fermented for a minimum of 48 hours, so a lot of love has gone into each and every pizza. Plus, all of Sodo’s ingredients are seasonal, so there’ll always be new inventions to try, whether you’re a meat-eater, vegan, or even a white pizza girlie.

"Don’t scrimp on those sides, either — sounds rogue, but may we recommend the picked veggies and fennel salami? Oh and there’s an impressive selection of local beers and natural wines to wash it all down. Enjoy!" - Brit Dawson, Sex and Relationships Editor

With low lighting and marble tabletops, the setting is perfect for romantic dates or catching up with pals (as I did.)

"As for the food? The pizzas is crispy and light with dippable crusts, thanks to dough that is fermented for 48 hours, and topped with seasonal ingredients, while the negronis are ice cold and moreish." - Dusty Baxter-Wright, Entertainment and Lifestyle Director

Mamma Dough

Where to find them: Brixton, Peckham, Sydenham, Ladywell and South Norwood.

Takeaway available?: Yes

We order: Hot Honey Dog or the Winter Greengrocer

When I first moved to London, this was the pizza I ordered on my first night in the city, and so it holds a special place in my heart. But also the pizza is just really good. The sourdough base is made with a combination of Shipton Mill organic rye, wholemeal and white flour. The rest of their ingredients are also sourced in the UK, even the mozzarella, resulting in some truly mouth-watering combinations. Oh, and on Mondays they do half price pizza, the perfect start to the week in our opinion.

Yep, you expected that one. The cult favourite is deserving of the hype, with many people claiming it as "the best pizza" they've ever eaten, but we'll let you be the judge of that (although you will most likely agree). A mix between New York and classic Italian pizzas, it will be worth queue, or if you plan ahead, try and reserve your dough ahead of time.
