Noah Centineo in 'The Recruit'The Recruit has mounted its final spy mission at Netflix.
Actor Noah Centineo's thriller series has been canceled after two seasons, Entertainment Weekly has confirmed.
Creator Alexi Hawley first addressed the cancellation Wednesday in an emotional social media post, in which he reflected on the show's turbulent production and untimely end.
Hawley said that the show initially “died” before season 1 at the USA Network, until “the stars aligned” with executive producer (and Mr. and Mrs. Smith movie director ) Doug Liman for “a new life at Netflix."
He also pointed out production difficulties of filming season 1 during the COVID-19 pandemic, but that he and his team discovered “magic in the footage” for the first round of episodes. Then, after they got the green light for a six-episode season 2 that relocated production to South Korea, he had a renewed sense of energy — until the show ended.

Fivel Stewart and Noah Centineo in 'The Recruit'“Is two seasons and a movie a thing? Cause we’d all be there in a heartbeat. If not, man, we left it all on the field. For those who haven’t yet watched, dive in. I swear to God you’ll enjoy the ride," Hawley wrote. "In an age of shows that feel like homework, The Recruit is a blast that has stakes and humor and hardcore action which will keep you leaning forward."
He then thanked his cast and crew, "for giving the best of yourselves to this special show" and said he is "a better person for having spent time" with them.
