Nikki Webster's Bachelorette hopes after split from husband

Former child star Nikki Webster is single and ready to mingle, revealing that she’s ‘one hundred per cent’ on board with taking her search for love to the small screen by becoming the country’s next Bachelorette.

“Australia's next Bachelorette, could you imagine?!” the 33-year-old Sydney Olympics icon told Woman’s Day on Monday.

“You know what? I could totally do that! One hundred per cent I'm there — how else do you meet men these days?” she added.

After successfully leaping back into the spotlight late last year with her surprise appearance as the Alien on Channel 10’s hit The Masked Singer, the Strawberry Kisses singer experienced an ‘incredibly challenging’ 2020.

Like many other businesses, Nikki’s chain of Sydney dance studios was forced to close due to the coronavirus pandemic which turned her world ‘upside down’.

So too did her split from her husband of seven years, Matthew McMah, with whom she shares daughter Skylah, six, and three-year-old son Malachi.

Nikki’s ‘Dance Mums’

Nikki already has a TV gig lined up following her announcement in December 2019 that she would be bringing the hugely popular US TV show Dance Moms, down under.

“Hey guys, it’s Nikki Webster, and Dance Moms — well, we might call it Dance ‘Mums’ — is coming to Australia,” she revealed in a video on Instagram.

“I’m searching for the best elite dance troupe in the world and I need you to audition,” she added.

The caption for the post included more details about Dance Moms Australia, stating that casting was now open for girls and boys aged eight to 16-years-old.

At the time, it appeared that the series was slated for a 2020 premiere but COVID-19 and Nikki’s personal life no doubt threw a spanner into the works.

What is Nikki Webster doing now?

Since becoming a household name at age 13 through her performance at the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games, Nikki released her debut single Strawberry Kisses the following year, followed by a full-length album, Let's Dance, in 2004.

She released a single, Devilicious, in May 2009, but seemed to retreat from the spotlight with the exception of a few appearances on breakfast television, and a stint on Dancing with the Stars in 2005.

Back in January, Nikki released her first song in 18 years, Move Your Body, and in October returned to the small screen as Alien on The Masked Singer.

And after her unmasking, Nikki hinted at new music on the way, saying she’s “been writing some tracks I love, so, you never know”.
