Nicole Kidman’s daughter in her new movie Babygirl has a very famous dad

The first trailer for Nicole Kidman's newest film Babygirl is out now and Moulin Rouge fans have spotted a very wild detail. It turns out that Ewan McGregor's daughter Esther McGregor is playing Nicole's daughter in the film!

Fans of the 2001 romance film were blown away by the fact, with one user writing on X, "I really hate nepo babies getting big roles... but as someone whose life was saved + defined by Moulin Rouge, there is something immensely satisfying about Ewan McGregor's daughter playing Nicole Kidman's daughter. The Christian/Satine baby we never got."

"Esther McGregor as in THAT MCGREGOR?" another said, "You go girl!"

In the erotic thriller, Nicole stars as Romy, a powerful New York executive, who's married to a theatre director (Antonio Banderas), but things are not as perfect between the couple as they seem. Then comes Samuel (Harris Dickinson), the company's new intern, who works under Romy and makes his attraction clear. What follows is a forbidden relationship between Romy and Samuel.

Fans praise Nicole Kidman

Fans of the Aussie star were quick to share their support for the film, with one Instagram user writing, "I saw this at #TIFF24 and it was excellent. Oscar nom incoming!"

'Really hot movie'

In an interview with Vanity Fair this week, Nicole said she is nervous for the film to be released as she believes it is the most "exposing" film of her career. Babygirl is set to premiere at the Venice International Film Festival, with the star saying she's unsure whether it will be the best place to watch it for the first time.

"There’s something in me going, 'Okay, this was made for the big screen and to be seen with people,'" she says. "But then I’m like, 'That’s a high-wire act. I’m not sure I have that much bravery.'"

Director Halina Reijn says that it's a "really hot movie", telling the publication, "I know we accomplished one thing, and that is that we made a really hot movie."

"I don't know about good, bad — that’s up to everybody — but I’m sure of that."
