Nicole Kidman and Esther McGregor are celebrating their new movie.

More than 23 years after starring in Moulin Rouge opposite Esther's dad Ewan McGregor, Kidman, 57, and Esther have teamed up for the new movie Babygirl, in which they play mother and daughter.

And during a screening of the buzzed-about A24 erotic thriller at the Crosby Street Hotel in New York City on Saturday, Oct. 5, the two came together and shared a sweet hug.

Ewan, 53, briefly mentioned earlier this year that Esther would be collaborating with Kidman on a new film, while talking on a Star Wars-related panel back in February at MegaCon in Orlando, Florida.

"My daughter Esther is filming with — she's playing Nicole Kidman's daughter in a movie right now. Full circle!" he said, quipping in addition, "Maybe no one's meant to know that ... I should've checked before I just announced that to the world. Proud-dad moment, sorry."

Esther, 22, opened up about her work on Babygirl in an interview with Variety published in August, calling her role as the daughter of Kidman and Antonio Banderas' characters "grungy."

“A lot of my personal life and things that I’ve kind of gone through with my family, and the dynamic of that, weirdly kind of replicated itself on the screen, just in the opposite way as I was dealing with my mother instead of my father,” she said.

Ewan and Esther's mother Eve Mavrakis split in 2017 after he was photographed kissing his now-wife and former Fargo costar, Mary Elizabeth Winstead. Ewan and Eve's divorce was finalized in August 2020.

"For me, that was the age when you shift and realize your parents are humans and f--- up and make mistakes and make decisions that might not be in the interest of others,” Esther told Variety. “So it was really interesting to revisit that with a different perspective."

"Now I’m 22 and all that s--- with my family went down when I was 16, so with my newfound closure and understanding of my own trajectory, I was able to find a new voice with this character, and I thought that was really special," she added.

In Babygirl, Kidman plays a high-powered CEO who puts her career and family at risk when she begins a steamy affair with her much-younger intern, played by Harris Dickinson. The cast also includes Talk to Me's Sophie Wilde and Banderas, 64, who plays Kidman's character's husband.

While speaking about Babygirl with Vanity Fair for an August piece ahead of her movie's world premiere at the Venice Film Festival, Kidman explained how the role "left me ragged."

"At some point I was like, I don’t want to be touched. I don’t want to do this anymore, but at the same time I was compelled to do it. [Director Halina Reijn] would hold me and I would hold her, because it was just very confronting to me,” she told the outlet.

“I felt very exposed as an actor, as a woman, as a human being,” added the Academy Award winner. “I had to go in and go out like, I need to put my protection back on. 'What have I just done? Where did I go? What did I do?' ”

Babygirl is in theaters Dec. 25.
