Nicholas Hoult Reveals His Son Got 'the Clippers Out' to Shave His Head for Lex Luthor Role in Upcoming 'Superman' Movie
Nicholas Hoult shares son Joaquin, 5, with his longtime girlfriend, model Bryana Holly
Nicholas Hoult used his role in the next Superman film to bond with his son, Joaquin!
During a recent appearance on SiriusXM’s The Jess Cagle Show with Julia Cunningham, Hoult, 34, noted that shaving his head for his role as the villain Lex Luthor in the upcoming movie Superman: Legacy was the first time he had shaved his head since he costarred in 2015's Mad Max: Fury Road.
"It's growing back gradually. Yeah, but I did shave my head, which I find quite liberating whenever I've done it for roles," he said. "I kind of enjoyed that. This time, I let my older son get the clippers out and do it for me, which was [fun]."
Hoult, known for his roles in movies like Fury Road and The Menu, shares Joaquin, 5, with his longtime girlfriend, model Bryana Holly. A source first confirmed to PEOPLE that the couple, who celebrated their seventh anniversary in December 2023, had welcomed a son in April 2018, noting at the time that Hoult and Holly had "kept the news under wraps" for a time after Joaquin's birth.
In addition to Joaquin, Hoult and Holly are parents to a 2-year-old child whose name and gender have yet to be announced.

"David's such an incredible, wonderful Superman; he really embodies everything that you had hoped for that character, so I'm excited for people to see the film," Hoult said during the SiriusXM appearance.
Before Superman hits theaters, the actor will appear in the new Clint Eastwood movie Juror #2, the crime thriller The Order and the vampire horror movie Nosferatu.
