Mum transforms her body by eating six meals a day and ditching cardio

A mum-of-two has revealed she weighs the exact same as she did five years ago, despite the fact that she has completely transformed her body and is now a fitness model.

Sydney woman Catalina Levitt, who is a mother to a four-year-old and a 19-month-old, said she managed to completely change her physique by eating six times a day and ditching cardio.

The 37-year-old Digital Marketer said she now realises that she was eating too little and her hours of working out in the gym weren't giving her the results she wanted.

“I was trying to eat really little and no carbohydrates and doing lot of cardio,” Catalina told Be.

“In my mind, I thought this is what you’re meant to do to be fit. For me it wasn’t the case.”

It was after she gave birth to her second baby that Catalina felt like she needed to do something for herself and made a New Year’s resolution to get the body she had always wanted.

“When you are a mum, you spend the majority of your time giving and serving others,” she said.

“It is the most rewarding job in the world, but it can also be very selfless.

“I needed to do something for myself at least one hour a day in order to be a better person for the remaining 23 hours.

“I just wanted to be proud of myself and be happy about something that I did for me, so quitting was not an option,” she said.

“I knew if I quit, it would make me feel so bad about myself.”

Catalina started to train with coach Steph Parsons and started to get the results she wanted.

“I used to have more fat and not a lot of muscle and I was able to build muscle and lose fat,” she said.

The scales told her the exact same number but her body composition had completely changed, she felt like a different person and even competed in the ICN Fitness New South Wales State Championships.

Now she’s focused on doing weight lifting and does little to none cardio when she visits the gym.

While she doesn’t recommend her diet to everyone because she has tailored it to what works for her, Catalina says she eats a combination of protein, carbohydrates and vegetables.

“Obviously, they’re clean carbs like sweet potato, brown rice, oats and quinoa just carbs that the body can digest,” she said.

“And good fats like avocado and almonds and nuts.”

For breakfast, she would usually have oats or white egg omelet and for other meals she tries to make the meal contain a protein, carbohydrate and green vegetables.

Hoever she also believes in balance and allows herself to order whatever she wants from the menu once a week when her family goes out for dinner.

“I have a pizza or a hamburger and I love chocolate,” she said.

Catalina said she has amazing support from her husband who takes the kids at the weekend while she train and during the week she leaves them in the gym crèche.

She also said her success is all down to being organized and vigilant when it comes to meal preparation and training.

“It’s about being organised and setting up a routine,” she said.

“Shopping once a week, meal prep twice a week, have everything ready in the fridge so you’re not running around trying to cook six times a day.”
