Fans pan Today show as new sneak peak divides opinion
Nine has dropped a promo for the new-look Today lineup for 2020, and it’s dividing fans with many saying they are ‘switching off’.
The video introduces new host Allison Langdon as well as returning veteran Karl Stefanovic, who will kick off the new Today show on the 6th of January, after a serious shakeup to the lineup earlier this month.
The promo focusses on the media chops the duo bring to the show, with footage from their respective career highlights as journalists.

“With over four decades in news between them,” the promo proudly declared, before handing the microphone over to the new hosts.
The pair both opened up about their promises to audiences in the clip.
“We can't wait to tell you all the news, all the important stuff in the day, but send you off with a laugh,” Karl said.
“We just provide a bit of fun, but you know when the big stories break, we have got it covered,” Allison added.
It seems some of the audience, however, isn’t so easily swayed.
Today show audience divided over new hosts
Taking to Today’s Facebook page, fans were quick to share their reactions, and it looks like many are looking for the ‘off’ button.
“I won’t be watching, sick of the constant changes,” one former fan wrote. “I haven't watched for months and months.”
“Not interested, Seven is the way to go,” was one pointed comment.
“I won't expect nothing because I won't watch it. No offence Ally but I do not like Karl,” another wrote.
There were also those who praised the changed look, refuting the naysayers.
“What a great team. Will be watching for sure,” one wrote.
“It’s about bloody time. The show hasn’t been the same without a Karl,” another agreed.
After a year of struggling ratings it looks like Ally and Karl will have to work hard to get their audience back even if they have some staunch supporters in their ring.
Today show introduces sweeping changes
The promo comes after viewers were shocked by sweeping changes to the show announced earlier this month in what one source described as a ‘bloodbath’.
Channel Nine confirmed a whole new line-up for the Today show with Karl and Allison joined by Perth reporter Tracy Vo in the newsreader role, and Alex Cullen, formerly from Sunday Night, doing sport.
Veteran weatherman Stevie Jacobs will also be departing the program, being replaced by Sydney reporter Tim Davies.
Richard Wilkins has also been booted from the Today show and will be moved to Weekend Today. He will be joined by new co-host Rebecca Maddern, from The Footy Show and Ninja Warrior Australia.
Jayne Azzopardi will present the Weekend Today news and Lauren Phillips will be the weekend weather presenter.
It’s also been confirmed that Sylvia Jeffreys is set to return to morning TV as co-host of Today Extra alongside David Campbell, replacing Sonia Kruger who moved to Channel 7.
