The Duchess of Cambridge made her royal debut on Monday when she officially opened the East Anglia Children’s Hospice at the Treehouse center in Ipswich, England.
Speaking for the first time as a member of the Royal Family, Kate said at the event: “I am only sorry that William can’t be here today. He would love it here.”
The Duke is currently on a seven-week tour in the Falkland Islands.

Kate reportedly wrote her speech herself, and spoke about when she first visited the charity’s hospice in Cambridgeshire.
The young royal told the crowd she had a “preconceived idea as to what to expect. Far from being a clinical depressing place for sick children, it was a home. Most importantly, it was a family home, a happy place of stability, support and care. It was a place of fun.”
After her speech, the Duchess helped beautify the hospice by planting a tree.
