KAK's husband has same injury as Christopher Reeve


Kerri-Anne Kennerley ‘s husband John Kennerley has sustained the same neck injury as late actor Christopher Reeve.

The 75 year-old businessman broke his C2 and his C3 vertebrate after falling from a balcony over the weekend, and has remained in an induced coma ever since.

Superman star Christopher Reeve became a quadriplegic after he fell from a horse in 1995. He broke his first and second vertebrae, which paralysed him from the neck down and left him dependent on a wheelchair and portable ventilator for the rest of his life.

Despite suffering from the same injury as Christopher Reeve, Dr Gordian Fulde, head of emergency at St Vincent’s Hospital, said that there was a chance John could still recover.

'The brain and spinal cord are very unforgiving tissues to be injured, but having said that there is always some chance of some recovery,' Dr Fulde told News Corp Australia.

John Kennerley underwent surgery on Monday night and remains on a ventilator.

ICU staff at Sydney's Royal North Shore Hospital said that John was in a 'critical but stable' condition.
