Co-host Dr Chris Brown has revealed that if you thought the first season was edgy, you haven’t seen anything yet!

‘Last year, we went a little bit easy on them,’ he tells New Idea.

‘We had the critter guy who came through and cleared the campsite of different snakes and spiders. This year, that’s not going to happen before the show.’

Contestants will have to contend with a variety of deadly African animals within their camp – possibly even lions!

'There will be extreme animal encounters and extreme weather to deal with as well,' revealed Chris.

The set is deep within the South African jungle on the border of Kruger National Park.

With the nearest hospital a helicopter ride away, it’s up to Chris to protect the crew.

‘When we are in the treehouse, filming the show in the middle of nowhere, there’s no-one apart from TV people there. You have to rely on your own abilities,' says Chris.

‘This year, we’re fully aware of what it’s going to take to scare Aussies, so the challenges are much, much bigger and even more challenging.’
