Yarraka Bayles posted a video on Facebook of her gorgeous son Quaden pulling funny faces in the mirror.

But her joy soon turned to horror when strangers started posting cruel slurs about her four-year-old boy, calling him an ‘ugly kid’, ‘little midget’ and even ‘crack house kid’.

Young Quaden has the most common form of dwarfism, and his mum was shocked by the social media backlash.

‘I’ve had quite a few negative comments. Someone wrote “that’s one ugly kid” on a video,’ she tells New Idea as she fights back tears.

‘People on the street often point and whisper, or sneakily try and take photos of Quaden because he’s different,’ she says.

‘It’s just heartbreaking – that’s my baby.’

Now, his Brisbane-based mum has started a dwarfism awareness campaign, Stand Tall 4 Dwarfism, which already has more than 5300 likes on Facebook.

Yarraka is determined to stay strong and continue to share Quaden’s triumphs online.

‘I know how much joy he brings to my life,’ she says, ‘so it makes me proud to be able to share that with others.’
