Netflix Star Reveals Extent of Injuries After Being Shot in His Car

DeRon Horton had an unexpectedly eventful holiday season after he was shot shortly before Christmas.

The Dear White People star shared a series of startling photos from the hospital on Instagram on Thursday, Jan. 16. For the featured image, he started with a tame selfie from his bed, where his left arm was wrapped securely in a sling.

Next, Horton included snapshots of the bleeding wound and the X-ray showing damage to his radius, as well as the length of his forearm stitched up after surgery, during which received a plate and screws to stabilize the "shattered" bone.

According to the actor, somebody "shot [through his] car at [him]," with the final photos in the carousel showing his broken window and its cracked frame.

"[This] def wasn’t on my wish list 😂🎅🏽," he wrote.

Thankfully, the worst of it has passed—except for his inability to work out "for a minute." Now, he's out of the hospital and healing.

"First off. I wanna give an honor to God for covering me and protecting me to make it out [of] this situation and countless other ones," Horton wrote, also shouting out friends and family for checking in on him. "But I’m Blessed dawg to not be in a casket or paralyzed..."

Horton assured his followers he didn't share the news for "sympathy," confirming he's feeling "amazing" now.

It's unclear if Horton was targeted in the shooting or if he was injured by a stray bullet.
