Yahoo Lifestyle Netflix Documentary ‘Larissa: The Other Side Of Anitta’ Promises To Show Brazilian Superstar’s Journey Of Self Discovery
Larissa: The Other Side Of Anitta, a feature documentary for Netflix, will delve into the life of the multi-talented Brazilian star. The João Wainer and Pedro Cantelmo-directed doc about Rio-born singer, songwriter, dancer and actress Anitta launches this year on Netflix.
“Everyone has seen Anitta, the creature, but Larissa, her creator, is still a secret that only those closest to her can access,” reads the synopsis for the film. “Through the intimate gaze of a former crush from her youth, the film reveals the surprising Larissa and follows her journey of self-discovery as she faces physical and emotional challenges that lead her to rethink her priorities in life and career.”

The doc was a highlight of a Netflix presentation about its Brazilian films and series. The streamer also released a new pics from Baila, Vini, its doc about Real Madrid player and soccer superstar Vinicius Jr. who has taken a stand against racism in the game.
Netflix also presented an as-yet-untitled doc out of Mexico about the late Mexican singing idol Juan Gabriel. The film comes from documentary director María José Cuevas. The streamer has worked with the estate of the legendary recording star and songwriter, giving the filmmakers unprecedented access to archive material, as first reported by Deadline in 2023.

Other highlights from Netflix’s Argentina, Brazil and Mexico presentations included details of a new season of Love is Blind Brazil, which will feature participants aged over 50-years-old, and the fifth and final season of Brazilian series Sintonia. There is also Rio-set crime drama Os Donos do Jogo (Owners Of The Game) with Heitor Dhalia (Criminal Code) set as showrunner.
The Netflix Argentina team dated Atrapados, based on Harlen Coben’s novel ‘Caught’, which bows March 26, and graphic novel adaptation El Eternaut, which drops on April 30.

In Mexico, Vice President of Content Carolina Leconte talked up its local ambitions: “Our commitment is to continue offering authentic stories so that our Mexican members identify with them and see more Mexican realities reflected”. She went on to announce a second season of Mexican drama The Accident.
