Ms. Rachel Discusses the State of Her YouTube Vids Netflix

When Ms. Rachel, the beloved children's entertainer known for her YouTube channel full of "Toddler Learning Videos," announced that she was launching a four-episode season of her show on Netflix, reaction among fans was mostly positive.

  • "No one is more deserving!" one commenter wrote on Ms. Rachel's Instagram.

  • "Great things happen for great people!" said another.

  • "I hope you make a billion dollars!"

But, if you're fine-tuned to the emotional state of parents, you could sense that there was another undercurrent of feeling running through all of these congratulations: transparent panic. If Ms. Rachel is headed to Netflix, some thought, does that mean that she's going to sunset the YouTube channel on which so many families rely?

  • Some commenters came out and said it plain: "Please don’t stop your YouTube videos. Netflix charges people, and you're the best out there," one commenter begged.

  • "Definitely we need you on YouTube, my Granddaughters love you so much, Netflix charges an arm and a leg," another agreed.

So Ms. Rachel had to take to her Instagram page to assure her long-time viewers about the state of her YouTube channel. In reply to a comment that asked, "Are you still going to be putting out content on YouTube?" there was a clear reply: "Yes - just another way to watch."

So, there you have it. Ms. Rachel's YouTube channel isn't going anywhere — at least not at the moment.

It makes sense, the Netflix show, which starts on January 27, is going to debut with just four episodes. (Netflix promises that there will be more coming later in the year.) There are hours and hours available on YouTube. It makes so much more sense that the Netflix deal is just another avenue for fans to find her videos (and maybe hop back on her YouTube to watch more) than as a replacement.
