Robert Pattinson dubbed most handsome man in the world

Science has confirmed what our younger ‘Twilight’ loving selves knew all along that Robert Pattinson is the most handsome man in the world.

Research into what constitutes the 'perfect face' has found the ‘Batman’ actor, 33, to be 92.15% ‘accurate’ to the Golden Ratio of Beauty Phi, which measures physical perfection.

His eyes, eyebrows, nose, lips, chin, jaw and facial shape were measured against other celebrities and his make-up meant he came closest to the ancient Greeks’ idea of perfection.

The list was compiled using the latest computerised mapping techniques by Harley Street facial cosmetic surgeon Dr Julian De Silva, who utilises the technology in his work.

Commenting on the results Dr De Silva, who runs the Centre For Advanced Facial Cosmetic And Plastic Surgery, in London, said: “Robert Pattinson was the clear winner when all elements of the face were measured for physical perfection.

“These brand new computer mapping techniques allow us to solve some of the mysteries of what it is that makes someone physically beautiful and the technology is useful when planning patients' surgery.”

2 - Henry Cavill (91.64%)

The Witcher’ star Henry Cavill came a close second with 91.08%. “He had the highest overall score for his lips and forehead and also scored very highly for the matching ratio of nose and lips and his eye position. But he scored poorly for his eye spacing,” Dr De Silva explains.

Bradley Cooper was third with 91.08% thanks to his eye position. But was marked down for the shapes of both his nose and face.

4 - Brad Pitt (90.51%)

At 56, Brad Pitt, proved he can still cut it in the handsome stakes coming in fourth with 90.51%.

“Brad is ageing incredibly well just as his career is peaking again with 'Once Upon A Time in Hollywood'," Dr De Silva says. “To come fourth on the list at the age of 56 is incredible and reflects his almost ageless beauty. He had the top marks for eye spacing but was marked down for the shape of his nose.”

5 - George Clooney (89.91%)

Previous winner George Clooney, the oldest star on the list, slipped back to fifth place, largely because of the effect of ageing on the 58-year-old had resulted in a loss of volume in the face.

“George Clooney was toppled from the top spot, largely because of the toll nature has taken in the last three years," Dr De Silva says.

“He is still an intensely beautiful man but there has been a loss of volume in his face and, inevitably, some sagging around the eyes. To still make the top five when you are nearly in your 60s is remarkable and is testament to his incredible natural good looks.

Hugh Jackman came it at number six scoring 89.64%, with David Beckham landing in a very respectable seventh with a score of 88.96% - he is the owner of the most chiselled chin in the top ten.

Idris Elba was eighth (88.01%) with Kanye West making an extremely surprising inclusion at number nine.

According to Dr De Silva, Kanye scored highly for his eye spacing and his chin but was marked down for his face shape.

Meanwhile heartthrob Ryan Gosling rounds out the top ten scoring 87.48%.
