Monica Barbaro Elevates Utilitarian Style in Loewe Balloon Jacket and Cropped Trousers for SiriusXM Studios Visit
Monica Barbaro stopped by the SiriusXM studios on Tuesday in New York City as part of her awards season promotional tour for “A Complete Unknown.” The actress and Bulgari ambassador earned her first Oscar nomination for her work in the film, in which she plays singer Joan Baez opposite Timothée Chalamet’s Bob Dylan.
For the occasion, Barbaro embraced utilitarian style with a contemporary twist. The actress wore a coordinated, tracksuit-inspired look courtesy of Loewe. The look featured a beige balloon jacket with a sharp collar and drawstring element at the hem, paired with matching cropped trousers.

The actress paired the look with black, close-toed heels. She accessorized with small hoop earrings. Her glam featured her dark hair with a side part and a clean makeup look with a bold brow and berry lip.
Barbaro received her first Oscar nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role for her work in “A Complete Unknown.” Back in December, WWD spent time with Barbaro as the actress got ready for the New York City premiere of the film, for which she wore a ’70s inspired dress courtesy of Dior.
“It’s early ’70s, it’s not the same period as the film, but I feel like Bob and Joan were these musicians that had such an impact on the rest of musicians that came out in the late ’60s and early ’70s and beyond,” Barbaro said. “It felt like it was the spirit of their legacy of music, even though it’s not quite the right time period. I put it on and was like, ‘Oh my god, grab me a guitar.’”
Barbaro’s involvement in the film and her time cultivating her own interpretation of the real-life Baez, a lauded folk singer and activist, completely altered her relationship to music and art.
“She just had a real authenticity about herself, and I think that’s kind of inherent within the folk music scene,” Barbaro said. “They’re talking about breaking down filters and just being themselves all the time and looking at humanity in a really honest way.”
