Mom and Baby Reunite with Ambulance Team After Traumatic Birth: 'They Saved Not One, but Two Lives'

“When she is older I will tell her all about the people who saved her life,” said mom Abie Everett

A mother and her daughter had a sweet reunion with the ambulance team that saved their lives.

Abie Everett and her daughter Lydia were reunited with the London Ambulance Service (LAS) crews almost a year after Everett's traumatic birth, according to the BBC.

“When she is older I will tell her all about the people who saved her life and I will spend the rest of my life thanking God for each of them,” Everett said of the paramedics, per the outlet.

Shortly after she realized her baby was coming and called for help, LAS responders helped deliver baby Lydia, who was born with the umbilical cord around her neck and was not breathing.

EMTs Courtney Mulligan and Corey Graham and paramedic Oliver Sage all helped to remove the umbilical cord from around baby Lydia’s neck, as she began to turn blue, according to London Ambulance UK. They also helped Everett, who had lost a large amount of blood.

“I trusted each and every one of them from the minute they arrived and I never once felt scared,” Everett told the BBC.

Upon meeting up with the mother and daughter close to a year later, Mulligan said, “It was really heart-warming to meet the family and get a cuddle with Lydia. She’s growing fast and such a beautiful baby."
