MKR viewers turn on fan favourite team after 'mean' act: 'Sore losers'

Fans have criticised Rob and Liam for being ‘bitter’ towards their co-stars.

They’ve been at the top of the leaderboard for a majority of this year’s season of My Kitchen Rules, but Rob and Liam found themselves at risk of being eliminated this week after their ultimate instant restaurant. The ‘competitive brothers’ were left disappointed with their score of 57/100 and appeared to take out their frustration with the MKR competitors in Tuesday night’s episode.

During Caz & Fergus’ dinner, Rob and Liam clashed with Janey and Maddie and accused them of being strategic with their scoring. The ‘kitchen queens’ had given them 5 points - which was the same as Caz and Fergus and Mike and Pete - which Rob and Liam thought was “a little bit low”.

“We did feel like maybe a little bit of strategy came into it,” Liam said. “It cut us a little bit deep.”

While Simone and Viviana argued they should have been “more generous” with their voting, Janey and Maddie said they stood by their score and the boys needed to get over it because it was “only one point”.

“I think it was a middle of the road which is what we scored,” Janey said. “Could we have scored higher? Could we have gone lower? Maybe, but we thought it was fair for what we enjoyed and what we had. That’s all I can say.”

Throughout the episode, many viewers took to social media to criticise Rob and Liam’s attitude towards Janey and Maddie at the dinner table.

“Rob and Liam are mean,” one person wrote, while another added, “I'm surprised to learn the boys aren't nice”.

“Talk about childish sore losers, give it rest Rob & Liam. You stuffed up,” a third remarked.

“The BBQ boys a little bitter tonight,” someone else said, followed by a different user who commented, “Sorry but the BBQ boys think they’re better than everyone”.

“The boys were threatened but that’s the name of the game guys,” another fan replied.

Meanwhile, others argued it was “unfair” that Rob and Liam were the first team to be scored openly during their ultimate instate restaurant and they had a right to be upset.

Viewers felt that the new rule, which saw the contestants reveal their scores at the table in front of their competitors, should have been explained before the teams decided on how they would rate the meals.

“Even though the boys cooked average food I still think they are at a disadvantage because open scoring wasn’t announced until everyone had decided their scores,” one viewer commented. “I definitely think this will affect the scoring for the rest of the restaurants.”
