Actress shares empowering bikini message

Actress Mindy Kaling has taken to her Instagram to promote body positivity by sharing some bikini snaps with her followers.

The Mindy Project star - who has 18-month-old daughter Katherine - told her followers they didn't need to be a size 0 if they wanted to show off their bodies this summer.

"IDK who needs to hear this but ... WEAR A BIKINI IF YOU WANT TO WEAR A BIKINI. You don't have to be a size 0. Have a great summer,” she captioned the side-by-side photos.

She also shared a video where she spoke about going to Hawaii and noticing that everyone wears a bikini - not matter what size they were.

“It does not matter what your body type is. You rock a bikini because you’re in Hawaii,” she said in the clip.

Mindy says that even though she was really shy about her body she would wear bikinis there. And that inspired her summer photoshoot now.

She had plenty of fans and fellow celebrities commending her for her honest post.

“Beautiful!” reality star Kim Kardashian wrote.

“This makes me so happy! Rock those bikinis girl! You are beautiful,” another fan said.

“You look amazing and yes me! I needed to hear this,” was another response from a grateful fan.

While another simply added: “Bikini body = any body in a bikini.”
