Millie Bobby Brown Slams Negative Comments About Her 'Older' Appearance in Latest Selfie

Millie Bobby Brown isn't bringing any negative energy into the new year.

On Dec. 30, the Enola Holmes star, 20, quickly shut down unwarranted criticism on her appearance after comments about her “older” look flooded her feed when she posted a selfie to Instagram.

The photo showed her posing with pursed lips and flashing her wedding ring while modeling a small purse from the new Louis Vuitton and Murakami collection.

“Women grow!! Not sorry about it,” Brown captioned a follow-up Instagram Stories post that has since expired.

Fans came to the actress’ defense, one writing, “People expecting her to still be a young girl when she’s literally an adult now is wild.”

"Seriously, just because she started her career as a child doesn’t mean she’ll always stay the same. Now she’s a beautiful woman, and you shouldn’t hate on her for something she has no control over," another wrote.

Brown was 11 years old when she was introduced as Eleven in Stranger Things, which is coming out with its fifth and final season this year.

Her husband Jake Bongiovi also showed his support with three white heart emojis in the comments.

Brown didn’t let the commentary get in the way of her celebrating all the milestones she celebrated in 2024.

In celebration of New Year’s, the Enola Holmes star shared a series of never-before-seen wedding footage and sweet moments between her and Bongiovi, who is the 22-year-old son of rock star Jon Bon Jovi.

The couple first sparked romance rumors in June 2021 and in May 2024, PEOPLE confirmed that they secretly got married in a "very low-key, romantic affair with their closest family.”

Throughout the clips, Brown could be seen in some of the four bridal looks she wore during their second wedding celebration at Villa Cetinale in Italy, including her custom lace Galia Lahav gown.

“The year of Mrs. Bongiovi,” she wrote.

In November, a source close to the pair told PEOPLE that Brown and Bongiovi have been "enjoying a magical year" as husband and wife, and that they couldn’t wait to celebrate their first holiday season as newlyweds.

"Millie is very happy with Jake. She loves celebrating Thanksgiving with Jake and his family," the insider said. "She raves about his mom's cooking. Their family gatherings are always very special and welcoming."
