Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth have called it quits less than a year after their intimate wedding.
A representative for Miley confirmed the couple had “agreed to separate at this time”.
“Ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what’s best while they both focus on themselves and careers,” her rep told People in a statement.
“They still remain dedicated parents to all of their animals they share while lovingly taking this time apart. Please respect their process and privacy.”
No wedding ring
Rumours of a split between the pair began swirling after the singer posted a photo of herself on Instagram without her wedding ring, even though she was wearing plenty of other jewellery.
She’s been enjoying a vacation with Brody Jenner’s ex Kaitlynn Carter in Italy, without Liam.
And now photos have emerged of the two women kissing on said vacation, sparking further speculation Miley may have already moved on.
The singer had previously revealed she identifies as pansexual, opening up in an interview last month that she viewed her marriage with Liam as “confusing and complex”.
She also insisted she was still “very sexually attracted to women” and didn’t “fit into a stereotypical wife role”.
A tumultuous relationship
Ten years after first meeting on movie set of The Last Song, Miley and Liam tied the knot back in December, sharing sweet photos on Instagram to announce the happy news.
“10 years later…,” Miley captioned an image of the pair embracing in front of a wall of flowers.
They were initially together for three years and got engaged during that period too but called quits on their relationship in 2013.
After a three year hiatus, the pair reunited in 2016 and it seemed their relationship had gone from strength-to-strength with Miley detailing her renewed love for Liam in the song ‘Malibu’.
But she hadn’t shared any images with Liam on her Instagram for months, and over on Liam’s account it’s a similar story. His last photo with Miley was posted back in June.
