Miles Teller and Keleigh Sperry; Malcolm McRae and Anya Taylor-JoyMiles Teller, Anya Taylor-Joy and their spouses have grown so attached that they’re practically a “quadruple,” according to a (joking) Teller.
While chatting with PEOPLE about their upcoming film The Gorge, Teller, 37, and Taylor-Joy, 28, opened up about their close-knit friendship, which also extends to their respective spouses, Keleigh Sperry, 32, and Malcolm McRae, 30.
Teller and Taylor-Joy's friendship, the latter tells PEOPLE, can be traced back to a shared industry connection — but she admired him way before they joined forces for the Apple Original Films thriller. “We share an agent, so I had heard of Miles for a long time before I had met him, and it was always one of those things,” The Menu star says, noting that his performance in 2014's Whiplash "captivated me so much.”

"There's a couple of people that my agent takes care of that I'm always like, ‘Oh, I hope they're doing well.’ And that's just a good feeling before you ever meet somebody," she explains. "And then we met, and that was the same night that I met his delightful wife [Sperry], who is now one of my best friends.”
Teller jokes that since his wife and costar crossed paths, he doesn’t “even exist anymore," insisting that when “Anya and Keleigh are around” — he’s “just hanging in the background.”
“I love you, bud,” the Split star maintains. “I do, I do.”

Miles Teller and his wife, Keleigh Sperry, in 2025Getting slightly more serious, Teller echoes Taylor-Joy's sentiment, recalling that he “was always curious about” her. “I just find her such a fascinating person to watch,” he explains. “And so I was very curious, ‘What is Anya like?’ And she's just a little badass and she's very cool and just highly intelligent. I love spending time with her.”
The costars now spend lots of time together outside of set (where their friendship provides an “an extra comfort level,” per Taylor-Joy) but it isn’t always spent in a twosome — Sperry and McRae are often by their sides.

Deciding what to label the group of four pals, Teller ponders, “I don't know what it's called ... a throuple is three people,” as his costar provided an answer: “A quadruple.”
“We're a quadruple,” Teller then jokes of Sperry, McRae and Taylor-Joy, who agrees, “Yeah, we do a lot of activities.”
Immediately reconsidering how the label sounds, the Divergent actor admits, “That might come out wrong in text,” as his castmate jokes, “Probably. I don't think that was the right move.”
But, Taylor-Joy adds, the costars and their partners "spent a lot of time together, and we're all friends" — a fact that made things “easy” for herself and Teller on the set of The Gorge.

Teller and Sperry, a model and actress, first met at a Grammys afterparty for the Black Keys in 2013, and "just clicked,” he told PEOPLE in 2017. After a safari proposal four years later, the couple tied the knot during a private Maui ceremony in 2019.
Meanwhile, Taylor-Joy and McRae, a musician and actor, met at the premiere of her hit Netflix series, The Queen's Gambit, in March 2021 and secretly married in New Orleans in 2022. The couple tied the knot (again) in Italy about a year and a half later.
The Gorge premieres globally on Apple TV+ February 14.
