Michael Fassbender and Cate Blanchett Play Sexy Married Spies in Twist-Filled “Black Bag” Trailer

The cast also includes Pierce Brosnan, Regé-Jean Page, Marisa Abela, Tom Burke and Naomie Harris

Michael Fassbender and Cate Blanchett push the boundaries of marital trust in Black Bag.

The first trailer for director Steven Soderbergh's new film, described as a "gripping spy drama," debuted Tuesday, Dec. 17. Black Bag is about "legendary intelligence agents George Woodhouse and his beloved wife Kathryn."

"When she is suspected of betraying the nation, George faces the ultimate test: loyalty to his marriage or his country," the synopsis teases.

In the trailer, Fassbender's George tells Blanchett's Kathryn, "I would do anything for you." She questions, "Would you?" and he assures, "Yes." Later, she asks, "Would you kill for me, George? Would you?"

Elsewhere in the teaser, Kathryn is heard admitting, "My devotion to my marriage is my professional weakness."

The spy thriller comes from Jurassic Park screenwriter David Koepp, and the cast also includes Marisa Abela, Tom Burke, Naomie Harris, Regé-Jean Page and Pierce Brosnan.

Soderbergh has another film coming soon, also written by Koepp: Presence, about a family that "moves into a suburban house and becomes convinced they're not alone." In theaters Jan. 24, that one stars Lucy Liu, Chris Sullivan and Julia Fox.

Black Bag is in theaters March 14.
