Lady Gaga strips on the Met Gala red carpet

She’s co-chairing the Met Gala festivities this year, and Lady Gaga made her entrance especially memorable by changing into not one, but FOUR outfits.

Her arrival was heralded by a collection of twirling black umbrellas which the pop sensation waltzed past in a billowing pink coat dress by Brandon Maxwell.

Paired with a matching bow headband, the gown needed to be held and fluffed up by five people, before it was peeled back to reveal the most incredible black ballgown.

That outfit didn’t last long either however, as the back was unzipped and found to be hiding a slinky, hot pink number underneath.

Parading around the carpet, she was quickly given a pair of oversized sunnies and an old-school mobile phone to accessorise the look, before changing tact again and slipping out of that dress too.

Underneath it all was a sparkly underwear set, fishnet stockings and some seriously high stilettos.

Throughout it all, Gaga was flaunting dramatic eyelashes and accessories that totalled a whopping AU$2.5 million, including a Tiffany and Co 15 carat platinum with a diamond ring worth AU$1.7 million in itself.

The theme for this year’s gala is ‘camp’, and fans have been going wild for Gaga’s interpretation.

“Lady Gaga won the #MetGala and everyone else can go home,” one person wrote on Twitter, while another said, “Lady Gaga stripping on the #MetGala red carpet is everything.”

While Gaga’s outfit changes were a work of art fitting of the high profile venue, it was only the first of many wild and wacky interpretations of fashion that get wheeled out on these famous steps at this time every year.
