This member of the Trump family was once Meghan Markle's 'idol'

Since marrying Prince Harry, Meghan Markle has become a worldwide icon and perhaps even an idol to many.

It turns out, prior to becoming the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan had an idol of her own.

It was reportedly a member of the Trump family – Ivanka Trump to be precise.

Royal biographer Andrew Morton has claimed in his new book, Meghan: A Hollywood Princess, that the former Suits actress once considered President Donald Trump’s daughter a “female idol”.

“Before Donald Trump entered the race for the presidency, one of [Meghan’s] female idols was businesswoman Ivanka Trump, who had her own jewellery and clothing line,” a passage in the book reads, according to The Express.

In a 2015 interview with InStyle, Meghan also referred to Ivanka one of the “girl bosses” she admired.

“I love Ivanka Trump,” she said. “I love what she’s done with her company. I think she’s spectacular.”

However, the actress-turned-duchess made it clear she didn’t share the same sentiment for Ivanka’s father, Donald Trump.

In fact, in 2016 the 37-year-old stated she would leave the United States if the former Apprentice US host became president.

“It’s really the moment that I go, we film Suits in Toronto and I might just stay in Canada,” she said on The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore.

“I mean come on, if that’s reality we are talking about, come on, that is a game changer in terms of how we move in the world here.”

As many will know she didn’t end up staying in Canada, but she arguably stuck to her word as she did end up leaving the USA.

Meghan moved to London, into a palace and married a prince – pretty sweet deal if you ask us.
