Melania and Donald Trump's awkward PDA
Despite attempts to keep a strong front during public appearances, the relationship between US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump often comes across as a little strained.
On Wednesday, when the pair hosted an event at the White House to mark the one-year anniversary of their mission to combat the opioid crisis, the couple were seen to share a few awkward exchanges.
One of which was the moment Trump, 72, leaned in to kiss Melania, 48, on the cheek after she introduced him to take the stage – a kiss which left much to be desired judging by the expression on Melania’s face.
At least this time around the pair’s handholding – even if it involved the President holding his wife by her wrist – seemed much more authentic than previous attempts where Melania has been seen to swat Trump’s hand away.
This latest ‘PDA’ comes just a week after Trump was scolded on Twitter for leaving his wife standing in the rain while he walked away with their shared umbrella.
The video footage then showed the two walking side-by-side once again, however Trump continued to only hold the umbrella over himself, leaving Melania without any cover.

Shock claims have hinted that Melania can’t wait until the day she can divorce her husband, according to a former White House aide, Omarosa Manigault-Newman.
“Melania is counting every minute until [Trump] is out of office and she can divorce him,” Omarosa wrote in her book Unhinged: An Insider’s Account of the Trump White House.
So until that day comes, Omarosa believes Melania is using her outfit choices as a way to take subtle swipes at her husband such as the infamous ‘I don’t really care, do u?’ jacket she wore to visit detained immigrant children separated from their parents.
“(Melania) gladly, spitefully, wrecked her husband’s directives to make him look foolish,” Omarosa claimed.
