Meghan's swipe at royal family after Queen's death

Meghan Markle has seemingly taken a swipe at the royal family in her first podcast episode since the Queen's death.

The Duchess of Sussex paused the release of her Spotify podcast Archetypes for the royal mourning period following Her Majesty's death last month.

In the new episode of the podcast, Meghan, along with guests journalist Lisa Ling and comedian Margaret Cho, explored the 'Dragon Lady' stereotype with the former actress telling listeners to disregard the "loud voice coming from a small place".

She also urged listeners to be their "best and true self", saying, "You want to be weird or be sponge-like, be silly or fierce, be curious, or even self doubting or unsure some days and strong and brave on others."

It comes after Meghan spoke to The Cut about how she and Prince Harry were "happy" to leave Britain and were "upsetting the dynamic of the hierarchy... just by existing" before stepping down as senior royals.

She added that what she and Harry were asking for wasn't "reinventing the wheel".

Elsewhere in the chat, Meghan reveals that Harry told her how he had "lost" his dad King Charles in the fallout of their move to the US.

It comes after reports that Oprah Winfrey may be questioned by lawyers about her bombshell interview with Meghan and Harry.

Meghan's half-sister Samantha Markle is suing the Duchess of Sussex for over $100,000 in damages in a defamation lawsuit, with the 57-year-old saying her reputation was damaged by the Oprah interview.

According to The Sun, Samantha reportedly also wants Harry to undergo a deposition as well, but it's unlikely this will happen.

She also claims she was defamed by the book Finding Freedom, written by friend of the couple Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand.

Meghan's lawyer Michael Kump has revealed Samantha's legal team has "identified a whopping 19 non-party witnesses, including Prince Harry, Meghan’s mother, Oprah Winfrey" as well as others, including Scobie and Durand.

Depositions are part of the "discovery process" in the US, with Kump saying discovery should be halted until Meghan's request to dismiss the case had been decided.

He adds that in an "attempt to rescue her case", Samantha has claimed Meghan is responsible for Finding Freedom's comments.

"To state the obvious, because Meghan did not write Finding Freedom, she cannot be liable for statements in the book. It really could not be simpler than that," Kump said.

He adds that Meghan's comments to Oprah are protected by the First Amendment.
