Meghan Markle Reportedly Wishes Prince Harry Would Just "Let Go" of the Royal Drama

She wants him to "be happy and live in the moment."

Prince Harry has a lot on his plate as he continues to navigate tensions with the royal family and a four-year court battle to reinstate taxpayer-funded security for his family. While Meghan Markle has been by her husband’s side through the public ups and downs of their estranged relationship with Harry’s family–as well as the press it’s generated–she reportedly has strong feelings about the whole situation. Amid reports that King Charles and his son are no longer speaking once again, the Duchess of Sussex reportedly wishes Harry could “let go” of his ongoing lawsuits.

According to a former employee of the couple’s Archewell Foundation, the Suits actress feels bad that Harry has to shoulder the burden of finding greater security for their family. While both Meghan and Harry had an automatic right to U.K. police security as working royals, that privilege was revoked and their security was downgraded once they left their roles. As a result, the prince has been embroiled in a lengthy litigation fight as he attempts to appeal the decision.

Meghan "supports Harry 100 percent, but she wishes he could let go of these lawsuits, be happy, and live in the moment," the insider told People. However, the American Riviera Orchard entrepreneur knows that might not realistically be possible.

The source continued, "She wants him to be free of all of this, but she also knows that because of everything he’s been through and his love for [her and their children], he can’t. She wants him to live in a world where he is not burdened by this.”

The new report comes just days after Prince Harry expressed his “genuine concern” for his wife’s safety, claiming it was one of the main reasons he doesn’t want her to visit the U.K.

"It's still dangerous, and all it takes is one lone actor, one person who reads this stuff to act on what they have read," Harry said during an interview for ITV's documentary Tabloids on Trial, which premiered on July 25.

As the Duke of Sussex plans to appeal the court’s most recent decision to deny U.K. police security for his family, the ongoing lawsuits have reportedly put a strain on his already tumultuous relationship with his father.

"Harry is frightened and feels the only person who can do anything about it is his father," a royal insider told People. However, King Charles is reportedly frustrated by the ongoing conversation. The publication reported that Buckingham Palace refused to comment on security provisions, but a palace source said that it’s “wholly incorrect” that Charles has the power to bypass the courts and upgrade Harry’s security.

"He gets 'unavailable right now,'" one of Harry’s friends told People about the “complete silence” the prince has gotten from his father. "His calls go unanswered. He has tried to reach out about the King's health, but those calls go unanswered, too."
