Nearly seven years after shutting down all of her social media accounts, Meghan Markle is back on Instagram.

On Wednesday, the Duchess of Sussex kicked off 2025 with her first post on the platform under her new handle @meghan. In a clip shared to her grid, Markle—who was filmed by her husband Prince Harry—was spotted running on a public beach near her home in Montecito while wearing cropped white jeans and an oversized white linen button-down. Her dark brunette hair was worn down in loose waves and she had on minimal makeup.

Once she reached the shoreline, she neatly wrote "2025" in the sand with just her finger, before turning around and running back towards the camera.

The Duchess of Sussex originally teased her return to social media back in August 2022 while speaking with The Cut. “Do you want to know a secret?” she asked. "I’m getting back … on Instagram."

Markle originally deactivated all of her accounts after getting engaged to Prince Harry in January 2018. "It was a big adjustment—a huge adjustment to go from that kind of autonomy to a different life," she said of the transitionary time.

A month before Archie was born in 2019, Meghan and Harry launched a joint Instagram page titled @SussexRoyal, which The Cut notes drew over one million followers in six hours. But the account stopped being updated after Harry and Meghan stepped back from their senior royal roles in 2020, with their last post being in March.
