Superhero move: Meghan makes double bid for Hollywood stardom

Meghan Markle is set to step back into tinsel town with force, with the Duchess reported to be actively looking for a role in a superhero film, as well as having nabbed herself a spot on this year’s guest list for the prestigious Met Gala.

A source has revealed to The Daily Mail the former television star has her eyes on a major blockbuster, directing her agent Nick Collins to secure her a superhero role in an upcoming box-office film.

“He has said she wants her return to acting to be part of an ensemble cast in something like a superhero film,” a source told the Daily Mail.

“Meghan is planning a series of meetings in Hollywood. She has already done the voiceover for Disney and now word is out that she’s looking for a superhero film, as a voiceover or even on screen.”

The Duke of Sussex were caught in an embarrassing moment at the Lion King premiere ahead of their jaw-dropping royal step-down announcement pitching Meghan’s voiceover work to Disney CEO but it looks like that networking is well and truly paying off.

Met Gala moment for Meghan

On top of the explosive movie plans, it looks like the Duchess will be making herself as visible as possible, with strong rumours pointing to a royal red carpet moment at one of the biggest A-list events - the Met Gala.

According to reports from The Sun, the former actress turned royal is on the guest list alongside Vogue editor Edward Enninful with whom she worked while guest-editing the magazine.

“Naturally Meghan was one of the first names on the guest list, and Edward’s team are excited that the two will go together,” a source told the news site.

Even more shocking, it appears the new mum will be stepping out sans hubby for the glittering event, with the only names in circulation that of the Duchess and her fashion bestie.

“Meghan is keen to step out occasionally without Harry so that she can establish herself once more in Hollywood,” the source said.

The choice to step out as just one half of the Sussex duo could, however, be a financial one.

Questions have arisen amidst the news, not least of all is who will be footing the bill for the very expensive ticket price.

Tickets for the gala, which is a charity event, set celebrities and industry attendees back a cool $35,000 apiece, through with the pair’s various financial ventures making headlines around the globe it is a night they may comfortably fit into their new royal family-free budget.

The theme is Virginia Woolfe’s Orlando - which sees its central character change sex and is sure to promise a very avant-garde look from the Duchess.

She wouldn’t be the first royal on the Met Gala red carpet, Princess Diana famously attended the event in 1996, just one year before her tragic death.

Fans of Meghan have flooded social media, ecstatic at the chance to see the Suits star in a different environment to the formal royal appearances of the past few years.

“Wow I can’t wait to see what Meghan Markle wears the Met Gala,” one wrote.

“I could believe her going to the Met Gala with the Vogue editor, and yeah I’d love to see her all dressed up!!” another shared.

The news comes as the couple released the full details of their agreement with the Queen around their contentious royal step down, including news they would lose the right to include ‘Royal’ in their personal branding.
