The very last episode of Suits is about to go to air, and some of the cast are feeling nostalgic.
Patrick Adams, who played Meghan Markle’s love interest until she left the series in 2018, posted a number of behind-the-scenes images to Instagram ahead of this week’s finale, including a few with the Duchess of Sussex.
In one of the photos, the royal is seen lying on the floor in a mini skirt with her legs in the air, while in another, she’s wearing a dressing gown and heels.
The snaps were posted while Meghan and her husband Prince Harry were en route to South Africa to start their 10-day tour, and some fans couldn’t help but point out that the Queen may not be pleased by the move.
“You can’t post her pictures, she is a royal now, she is not allowed,” one person said, while another wrote, “Sorry, won’t he get in trouble for posting the photos of the Duchess?” and a third asked, “Did he run this by the Queen”.
Patrick knows the Markle effect
This isn’t the first time Patrick has been told off for posting photos of his famous former co-star, and in 2017 he was bombarded by fans after sharing a snap of Meghan kissing him on the cheek.
“I posted this old photo I had found of Meghan and I on set,” he told Esquire of the moment, “I went to bed, and woke up in the morning and realised ‘Oh, yeah. I live in a world where you can’t post things about Meghan.’”
“I had this onslaught of people retweeting the thing, people thinking it was a recent picture, and I just thought, ‘What the hell is going on?’”
It seems there was no such confusion this time, as Patrick posted the photos of Meghan alongside those of his other Suits co-stars.
Social media ban
Meghan was forced to shut down her personal social media accounts and her lifestyle blog, The Tig, when she and Harry started getting serious. All her posts are now sent out through the official Sussex Royal Instagram page which is mostly dedicated to her and Harry’s royal duties.
The 38-year-old also had to give up her Hollywood career prior to marrying into the British royal family, and her character, Rachel Zane, was written out of the legal drama after seven years on the show.
In a two-hour special, Rachel was farewelled in style with an emotional wedding to Patrick’s character Mike Ross.
When she announced she would be leaving her character behind, Meghan said, “I don't see it as giving anything up. I just see it as a change.”
“I've ticked this box, and I feel very proud of the work I've done there, and now it's time to work with [Harry] as a team.”
